Volleyball Slated for Weekend Series at No. 8 Florida

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas volleyball team is gearing up for another tough road series with a visit to No. 8 Florida on Friday and Saturday for the Razorbacks’ final road trip of the regular season.

The Scout and Series

Arkansas (11-5) is looking for its first win against Florida (12-2) since 2015 when the Razorbacks took down the ninth-ranked Gators in Barnhill Arena, 3-2. A win in Gainesville would be Arkansas’ first win in Gator territory in program history.

Florida has only played two series this spring compared to Arkansas’ four, postponing series against ranked Missouri and Mississippi State. The Gators returned this spring ranked No. 11 in the AVCA coaches’ poll but have since risen to No. 8 as of March 1st. Florida is back in Gainesville after back-to-back, straight-set wins over Tennessee in Knoxville.

Last Time Out

The Hogs split the weekend series in Baton Rouge, winning night one 3-1 and dropping night two in four sets. In game one, Arkansas had one of its most equally distributed games of the season with freshman Taylor Head and sophomores Jillian Gillen and Maggie Cartwright each accounting for about 25% of the Razorbacks’ attacks. With the victory at LSU, Arkansas broke a four-match losing streak to the Tigers that dated back to 2016. The Razorbacks posted their fourth-consecutive, double-digit blocking performance of the spring in game two, led by seniors Liz Pamphile and Devyn Wheeler who contributed five blocks apiece.

Head Earns Second SEC Freshman of the Week Award

Head’s second SEC weekly award brings Arkansas’ total to a program-record nine this season. Head led Arkansas to its 11th SEC win of the season on Feb. 18, taking down LSU in four sets. Over the course of the weekend, Head combined for 22 kills behind a .263 hitting percentage. Her efficiency at the net aided the Hogs in their best hitting percentage of the season in four sets, swinging .262 against the Tigers on Thursday.

First serve on both Friday and Saturday is scheduled for a 5 p.m. (CT). Razorback fans can watch the Hogs in Gainesville on SEC Network+.
