#5 Razorbacks Have Four Shoot in the 60s in Rd2 at SEC Championship
ST SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Four Razorbacks shot in the 60s on day two of the 2026 SEC Championships as the Razorbacks are tied for 10th with a 9-under-par 551 through 36 holes.
Erich Fortlage moved into a tie for eighth with his second-round, 3-under 67. Gerardo Gomez, Niilo Maki-Petaja and Thomas Curry each carded rounds of 69.
Fortlage and Gomez have posted scores in the 60s in four of their five rounds at the SEC Championships. The sophomores are two of six Razorbacks to have a school record with four rounds in the 60s at the Championships, joining Wil Gibson, Segundo Oliva Pinto, Julian Perico, Sebastian Cappelen, Bud Still and William Buhl. Curry, playing in his third SEC Championship, now has three career rounds in the 60s, making him one of five Hogs to accomplish the feat.
Arkansas started slowly, sitting at +3 through four holes and standing as low as 14th. However, over the next four holes, the Hogs carded six birdies. The team dropped back temporarily after playing the 11th hole at 3-over with a bogey and a double bogey. Then, on holes 12-16, Arkansas was 9-under with an eagle, eight birdies and a bogey. At that point, Arkansas was ninth and one stroke below the cut line. However, a bogey on 17 by Fortlage and a bogey on 18 by Gomez put the Razorbacks at -6 for the round.
Fortlage was the only Razorback to start well as he birdied the second hole. Fortlage was one of three Hogs to bogey the fourth hole, but he rallied with birdies on holes 5 and 7. After five straight pars, he dropped a shot on 13 only to reel off birdies on holes 14, 15 and 16 to get to 4-under for the day. He suffered a bogey on 17 to finish with a 3-under 67 and sit in a tie for eighth overall (66-67=133 / -7).
Gomez is tied for 31st (-2) after his second round of 69. He offset two bogeys with two birdies on the front nine to make the turn at even. He birdied holes 15 and 16 to get to 2-under before dropping a shot on the 18th.
For the second-straight day, Maki-Petaja and Curry matched scores and are even through 36 holes (71-69) to stand in a tie for 44th. Maki-Petaja was 3-over through 11 holes then had birdies on holes 12 and 14 before getting an eagle on the par-5, 15th. Curry grinded out his 69 with 16 pars, two birdies and a bogey.
Top-ranked Auburn was 16-under on day two to sit at -27 and leads by five over #3 Texas. The top eight teams after tomorrow’s final round advance to match play for the weekend. South Carolina currently holds the eighth spot at -12, followed by #11 Vanderbilt (-11) and a three-way tie for 10th at -9 with Arkansas, #14 Tennessee and #17 Alabama.
Arkansas tees off at 9:15 am (ET)/8:15 am (CT) and will play the final round with Texas A&M, Missouri and LSU.
