Aggies Hold On to Even Series

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Texas A&M snapped its three-game losing streak to No. 7 Arkansas (20-5, 1-1) Saturday afternoon at Bogle Park. The Aggies took game two, 2-0, to even the series.

It was a scoreless affair until Texas A&M put up a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth.

Freshman LHP Robyn Herron (6-2), who hadn’t given up a run in her previous 24.2 innings pitched, held the Aggies scoreless through the game’s first 3.2 frames before Texas A&M homered to take a 1-0 lead. Herron worked five strikeouts on the day.

Junior LHP Callie Turner tossed 1.2 frames, surrendering a lone run on four hits and punching out one batter.

Freshman LHP Hannah Camenzind also threw in relief and did not allow a run or hit across 1.2 innings while striking out one. Camenzind entered the sixth in a one-out, bases loaded jam and quickly forced a 1-2-3 double play to escape the inning.

Freshman Reagan Johnson, redshirt senior Kristina Foreman and sophomore Kacie Hoffmann accounted for Arkansas’ three hits. Junior Hannah Gammill reached twice after getting struck by pitches.

After her single to left in the seventh, Foreman extended her hitting streak to two games. Foreman jacked a solo home run in the series opener Friday night. The Tampa native has recorded a base knock in three of her last four games.

Proven to be one of the best freshmen in the country, Johnson has recorded at least one hit in 11 of her last 12 outings.

Arkansas positioned itself to score throughout the ballgame with leadoff batters reaching base in three different innings.

Reagan Johnson began the sixth with a single to left, but the Hogs were unable to plate her.

Kristina Foreman belted a one-out single to left in the seventh, but Texas A&M retired the next two to end the ballgame.
