Arkansas Falls in Saturday Night Affair

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – In a back-and-forth contest, a six-run sixth inning proved to be the difference on Saturday night, as No. 17 Arkansas (23-9) fell, 11-4, to No. 10 Florida (24-6) in front of the second-highest attended game in program history (3,220). The loss snapped Arkansas’ five-game win streak vs. the Gators.

Arkansas and Florida will clash in a Sunday rubber match beginning at noon C.T. on SEC Network+.

It was a one-run ballgame (5-4 Florida advantage) heading into the sixth. The Gators scored six unearned runs in the sixth en route to a series-evening decision.

Junior first baseman Cylie Halvorson recorded her seventh multi-hit game of the season, finishing 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Freshman center fielder Reagan Johnson also had a productive game at the plate, notching her 11th career multi-hit performance. Johnson finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Sophomore Raigan Kramer went 1-for-1 with an RBI and also tied her career high in walks with two.

Freshman LHP Robyn Herron (6-3) made her 10th start of the season and suffered the loss. The Tampa native racked up three strikeouts across 3.1 IP and gave up five earned runs on four hits. Freshman LHP Hannah Camenzind took over and tossed 2.1 innings and surrendered five unearned runs on two hits while striking out two. Freshman RHP Nikki McGaffin gave up an unearned run across the game’s final 1.1 frames and struck out one.

Arkansas will chase back-to-back series victories vs. Florida for the first time in program history on Sunday.

How It Happened

Top 1st: Florida launched a two-run home run to grasp an early 2-0 lead.

Bottom 1st: Arkansas responded on Halvorson’s two-RBI single to left to tie it at 2-2.

Bottom 2nd: Rylin Hedgecock pushed Arkansas in front, 3-2, after getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Top 4th: The Gators regained their lead on a three-run home run to put them up 5-3.

Bottom 4th: Raigan Kramer cut the deficit to 5-4 on her RBI single up the middle.

Top 6: The Gators added six unearned runs en route to their 11-4 win.
