Arkansas Falls to Georgia Tech, 3-0

ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Arkansas volleyball team (5-6) was efficient at the net but unable to combat a strong defensive Georgia Tech team on Thursday afternoon in Stegeman Coliseum, dropping the contest in three sets (25-17, 25-16, 25-17).

HOG HIGHLIGHTS

  • Recorded more blocks than Georgia Tech (9-5), led by Ellease Crumpton who had six blocks.
  • Committed a season-low nine attack errors.
  • Jillian Gillen | 8 kills | .280 hitting percentage | 10 digs

THE TURNING POINT
Arkansas was able to keep the match close until mid-way through each set. The Jackets outscored the Hogs 13-7 in the final 20 points of the first and second set and 12-8 in the third. Arkansas pulled as close as seven points down the stretch in the final set with a kill from Gillen and Jacket miscue, but Georgia Tech was able to halt the rally and close the door on the win with a kill.

UP NEXT
The Razorbacks are slated to face NC State, tomorrow at 3 p.m. (CT). After the ACC/SEC Challenge, Arkansas will return to Fayetteville before hitting the road again, headed south to Baton Rouge, La. to kick off conference play at LSU on Sept. 25. The Hogs will visit Alabama in Tuscaloosa on the 29th before returning home to Barnhill for their SEC home opener against Texas A&M on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. (CT).
