Arkansas in 10th After Two Rounds at Liz Murphey Collegiate

ATHENS, Ga. – The Arkansas women’s golf team slipped one spot on the leaderboard at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, sitting in 10th with a 15-over 591 after two rounds of play. Arkansas is coming off a 6-over 294 on Saturday, while Julia Gregg paced the team with a 1-under 71. The Razorbacks are two strokes behind ninth-place Texas A&M, who is 13-over par, while four ahead of 11th-place College of Charleston at 19-over par.

After a disappointing day of play on Friday, Gregg bounced back in the second round to fire away a 1-under 71. Although Gregg had four bogeys, she finished as strong as a golfer could with back-to-back-to-back birdies on holes 15-17 to round out the day under par. She jumped 18 spots in the leaderboard to stand in a tie for 58th with a 9-over 153 (82-71).

Reagan Zibilski also finished the day strong after a shaky start through the front nine. Entering the back nine, Zibilski was four-over par on the day, but closed out the day with birdies on holes 11, 12 and 18 to log a 1-over 73. She is steady in a tie for 14th place with a 1-over 145 (72-73).

Miriam Ayora had some challenges in the beginning of the round, starting the day with a double bogey and getting four bogeys. Ayora closed out the final five holes strong with no bogeys, a birdie on hole 17 and an impressive eagle on hole 18 to log a 3-over 75 on Saturday. Through two rounds, Ayora is in a tie for 37th with a 5-over 149 (74-75). Ayora is also one of three players to eagle through the first two rounds.

Also in a tie for 37th is Kajal Mistry, who is 5-over 149 (75-75). Mistry had a double bogey on the third hole but delivered birdies on holes six and nine. She entered the back nine at 1-over but ran into trouble with back-to-back bogeys in holes 16 and 17.

Meghan Royal was 5-over par on Saturday with a 77. She had two birdies but had back-to-back bogeys to close out the front nine. With a 9-over 153 (76-77), Royal is tied with Gregg for 58th.
