Arkansas In Third After Round One

ATHENS, Ga. – No. 17 Arkansas Women’s Golf is one stroke back of the lead after round one at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, as Head Coach Shauna Taylor’s Hogs fired a 294 (+6) on day one of the event. No. 3 Wake Forest and No. 16 Texas A&M are tied atop the leaderboard at five-over after 18 holes. There’s a three-way tie atop the individual leaderboard, as Polly Mack of Alabama, Michaela Monrard of Southern Cal and Julia Lopez Ramirez of Mississippi State are all two-under after day one.

Kajal Mistry picked up right where she left off, as she is back in the top 10 following her first 18 holes down in Georgia. Mistry carded an even 72 on the day, including four birdies through her first nine holes of play. She trails the leaders by just two strokes, and will look to go back-to-back after winning the MountainView a week ago.

Ela Anacona and freshman Giovanna Fernandez are both inside the top 15 as well, as they both shot 73s, good for a share of 12th place. Anacona fired two birdies on the day against three bogeys, while Fernandez carded a team-best five birdies against six bogeys. The 73 for Fernandez matched her best career round.

Julia Gregg is tied for 36th after the first round (76, +4), while Miriam Ayora (78, +6), is tied for 46th.
