Arkansas Is Steady In Round One

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The eighth-ranked University of Arkansas women’s golf team is in striking distance of the leaders after starting the opening round of The Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, North Carolina on Friday.

The event was hampered by rain with teams leaving the course in the morning due to a heavy downpour. Play resumed after an almost two-hour delay only to be stopped again around 3 p.m. central. Officials suspended the remainder of round one and teams will return to the course at 8:30 a.m. to complete the first 18 holes. Round two will follow.

Arkansas is currently T-3 overall and 10-over at the Country Club of Landfall. Dylan Kim and Kaylee Benton are plus-2 through 14 holes followed by Brooke Matthews and Maria Hoyos who are both plus-3. Matthews has played 14 holes and Hoyos has 15 holes completed. Cara Gorlei rounds out the Razorback scores and is plus-5 through 13 holes.

Number 14 Wake Forest currently leads the field at 4-over with players on holes 13 through 15 of the round. Second-ranked Duke is 7-over followed by Arkansas and No. 39 Penn State at plus-10. Maryland is 11-over and rounds out the top-5 teams.
