Arkansas Misses Cut at SEC Championship

BELLEAIR, Fla. – No. 6 Arkansas women’s golf finished outside the top eight and missed the cut at the SEC Championship at Pelican Golf Club (Par 70) on Sunday.

The Hogs (+6, T10) entered the final round of stroke play at 4-under and got off to a strong start over their first six holes (Arkansas teed off on No. 10 for the third straight day), bringing the team’s score for the weekend to 9-under and a couple shots back of first place.

Freshman Swetha Sathish (+15, T69) and junior Abbey Schutte (+11, T61) each went on birdie streaks to begin their rounds, with Sathish making three in her first four holes and Schutte making four straight from Nos. 12-15.

Arkansas finished the last two holes of the front nine at 9-over and sat in fourth place at even par at the turn.

Fresh off a birdie at No. 17, junior Maria Jose Marin (-1, T12) triple bogeyed No. 18 with an unlucky approach shot that hit a sprinkler head and bounced near a drain beyond the green. Marin’s chip didn’t make it over the backside of the green and then she three-putted to make a seven on the par-4.

The Razorbacks had to count three multi-bogeys on their second nine. Schutte double-bogeyed on No. 2, followed by a triple bogey from Reagan Zibilski (+2, T25) on No. 5 and a triple bogey from Sathish on No. 7.

Marin and Zibilski birdied the par -3 ninth hole, the final hole of the day, to close out the round.

Freshman Sara Brentcheneff’s (+6, T41) score of 7-over was dropped.

Arkansas finished 6-over par and three shots outside of the top eight.
