Arkansas signs two more International Olympic Hopefuls For 2020

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas swimming and diving head coach Neil Harper has signed Czech Republic National Team member Adela Vavrinova and British sprinter Macy Lawrence to an already talented incoming class for the upcoming 2020-21 season.

Adela Vavrinova

Vavrinova is a member of the Czech Republic National Team and is transferring from East Carolina University after completing her freshman year. She became the ECU school record holder this past season in the 200 IM (1:59.97) and broke three more ECU freshman records in the 100 free (50.32), 200 free (1:47.14) and 400 IM (4:18.32). Vavrinova joins the Razorbacks with a 4.0 GPA in psychology.

Macy Lawrence

Billericay, England

Mount Kelly Swim Team

Lawrence is one of Britain’s top up-and-coming young sprinters. She has represented Great Britain internationally at the junior level and has some of the best times when converted to fast short-course yards. Lawrence’s primary events and converted times are the 50 free (22.31) and 100 free (49.83). She is expected to swim the 200 free or 100 back as a third event.

“Both ladies will arrive on campus with international experience and goals of training here and then competing for places on their home country’s Olympic teams for next summer. They are both excited to get here and train with our team as we prepare for a new season and goals of moving up in the SEC and NCAA again this year.”
