Arkansas Tied for 10th After Two Rounds at SEC Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – No. 19 Arkansas Women’s Golf shot an 11-over-par 299 as a team in the second round of the SEC Golf Championship at Greystone Golf & Country Club on Thursday. The Razorbacks are tied for 10th place through two rounds, with one round of stroke play remaining.

Auburn remains at the top of the leaderboard, shooting an even-par 288 in both the first and second rounds. South Carolina (+3) and LSU (+4) follow to make up the top three through two rounds of play.

Junior Julia Gregg still leads the Hogs, remaining in the top five after two rounds of play. Gregg carded a three-over 75 in round two, marking down four birdies, including back-to-back to finish her round and give her a share of fourth place. The Texas native is six shots behind Megan Schofill of Auburn, who leads the championship at seven-under.

Tied for 48th place heading into the final day of stroke play are juniors Kajal Mistry and Ela Anacona. Mistry carded another 76 (+4) while Anancona shot a seven-over 79 to remain in the top-50 through 36 holes.

Giovanna Fernandez was even through the first five holes and just one over through the first eight. The freshman finished the second round at five-over (77) and is 12-over for the championship heading into tomorrow.

Playing in her first SEC Championship, sophomore Miriam Ayora notched a one-under 71, carding four birdies on Tuesday. Ayora turned in the Hogs’ best round of the day after not competing in the first round.

Arkansas tees it up tomorrow morning for the final round of stroke play at the SEC Championship. The top eight teams through three rounds of stroke play advance to match-play quarterfinals on Saturday, April 16.
