THE TURNING POINT

Trailing 1-0 in the match, Gillen sparked a 5-2 scoring run to help the Razorbacks tie the score at 13 points apiece in the second. Arkansas couldn’t keep the fire burning and LSU started a run of its own, taking a six-point lead that would last until the Tigers could secure a 25-19 set two win.

The Razorbacks got its first block of the match in the third set as Ellease Crumpton and Devyn Wheeler each earned the assist to give Arkansas a much-needed 6-2 lead. A kill by LSU’s Taylor Bannister would give the Tiger’s its first lead of the set (9-8) and LSU took advantage of the lead change and took its biggest lead of the set at 22-14 down the stretch. Arkansas managed six of the final nine points including a 4-0 scoring run late, but the Tigers’ lead was too big to overcome, and the Hogs dropped the final set, 25-20.
