Arkansas Wraps Up SEC Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – No. 19 Arkansas Women’s Golf closed out the SEC Golf Championship at Greystone Golf & Country Club on Friday, falling short of advancing to the match play portion of the event. The Razorbacks finished in 13th place, posting a 35-over 899 (296-299-304) over three rounds.

Junior Julia Gregg led the Razorbacks on Friday and for the week, firing a 78 (+6) in the final round of stroke play. Starting her round on No. 12, Gregg endured a tough stretch bogeying five of six holes before righting the ship to card eight straight pars. A bogey on her final hole of the round dropped her to a five-over for the week and into a tie for 24th.

Both juniors Kajal Mistry and Ela Anacona both closed out stroke play shooting matching 75s in the final round. Mistry birdied her second of whole of the morning with a two on the par-3 13th hole but consecutive birdies followed to drop her back. She was steady the rest of the day recording 12 pars over her final 14 holes. Anacona’s three birdies in the third round were the most by a Razorback on Friday with her 75 matching Mistry for the best round by a Hog. Two of those birdies came on the front nine that helped an even-par 36.

Rounding out the Hogs’ lineup were freshman Giovanna Fernandez and sophomore Miriam Ayora. In the final round, Fernandez turned in a four-over 76 while Ayora posted a nine-over 81.
