Hogs Place 10th, Hoyos Records Second-Career Top 10 Finish at IJGA Collegiate Invitational

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Arkansas Women’s Golf placed 10th in its first tournament of the spring, finishing the IJGA Collegiate Invitational at 17-over as a team (293-292-296—881). Host Virginia won the tournament, using a 280 in round three to take home the hardware. The Cavaliers finished the event at eight-under (856).

Junior Maria Hoyos came out of the winter intermission on fire for the Hogs, nabbing her second-career top 10 finish. The third year Hog was excellent in round two of the IJGA, carding a team-low 67, her best single round since her freshman season. Hoyos followed it up with a 71 in round three, her eighth-career round under par. Hoyos’ 214 (76-67-71) was eight strokes behind the individual winner, Amanda Doherty from Florida State (206).

Nabbing her third-career top 25 finish was freshman Julia Gregg, who finished the IJGA at three-over, good for a share of 23rd place. Gregg was consistent all tournament long, firing rounds of 71, 73 and 75.

Redshirt sophomore Brooke Matthews finished third in the Hog lineup, carding a 226 (+10) at the IJGA. Matthews finished tied for 47th.

Freshman Kajal Mistry and sophomore Ximena Gonzalez both finished tied for 62nd, with equal scores of 231 after three rounds at the IJGA.
