Kim Near Top Of Leaderboard

LAKE ELMO, Minnesota – University of Arkansas senior Dylan Kim paced the third-ranked Razorback women’s golf team to an 8-under 280 in second round action at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate Presented by 3M on Tuesday.
Players were chased off the course at the Royal Golf Club on Monday when weather moved into the area. Teams completed round one and continued with the second round to get back on schedule.
Kim opened strong with an eagle and birdie in her first three holes. She bounced in and out of the top spot finishing with a 4-under par 68. Kim is tied for third-place shooting 67-68=135 with one round remaining. She is two shots back of the leader, Ana Belac, of Duke, who is in the clubhouse with an 11-under 133.
Redshirt freshman Brooke Matthews played her second nine 4-under with birdies on Nos. 13 and 15 and an eagle on No. 18, a par-5, 452-yard finishing hole, moving up to a tie for 16th. Matthews battled back from a big number on the front side and finished her day with five birdies and the eagle.
Senior Maria Fassi was steady with rounds of 72-72=144. She is tied for 24th. Senior Kaylee Benton rallied late with three consecutive birdies in the final holes. Benton carded a 3-under 69 moving up 14 spots on Tuesday. Benton played the back nine 5-under with six birdies and one bogey shooting 77-69=146.
Freshman Grace St-Germain also moved up the leaderboard with a five-shot improvement over her first round. St-Germain carded a 73 and is tied for 49th shooting 77-73=150.

We finished the morning strong, so we had some momentum going into the second round. Brooke had a nine on the second hole and came back to shoot 1-under par. The bounce-back on that is incredible and I’m really proud of her. Kaylee birdied six of her nine holes on the back side and Grace hung in there as well. Dylan played consistent golf as did Maria over the last two days. It was a total team effort and we have one more day to go to climb the leaderboard. We are figuring out this course and have a good game plan and we are looking forward to the final round.
