Koskel Goes Unbeaten, Wins Group B at the PTT 25K Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Six members of the Arkansas women’s tennis team opened the fall season this week at the PTT 25K Fayetteville. Anet Koskel won each of her matches to secure her spot in the 1st place playoffs while Indianna Spink finished 2nd behind Koskel in Group B. Katie Ferguson also shined during the group stage as she placed 2nd in Group D.

Koskel matched up against Spink in Round 1 of the group stage, winning 6-4, 6-2. Koskel continued to dominate throughout the rest of the week, losing only four games combined in her two remaining matches. Koskel is now set to play in the 1st place playoffs tomorrow against Emily Gelber.

Spink also excelled in Group B, going 3-1 and dropping only one set after her first match against Koskel. Spink rallied to beat Lilian Poling yesterday 2-6, 6-0, 6-1, and recorded another win today after Alex Ackman withdrew from the tournament. Spink will face off against Adesuwa Osabuohien tomorrow in the 2nd place playoffs.

Ferguson went 3-1 in Group D, placing 2nd in her first action of the fall season. Ferguson started off the week with a win over teammate Lenka Stara and only lost three sets combined in her three remaining matches. Ferguson faces Jennifer Jackson tomorrow in the 2nd place playoffs. 

Morgan Cross qualified for the 3rd place playoffs after going 2-2 in Group C. Cross picked up wins in her final two matches against Aleksandra Kyselova and teammate Grace O’Donnell. Cross will play Mansi Vadyala tomorrow.

O’Donnell and Stara both grabbed one win each during the group stage, finishing 4th in Group C and D. O’Donnell is set to play Natalie Oliver tomorrow while Stara matches up against Eugenie Ngo Gwodog.
