Men’s Tennis Continue Play at ITF 15K Fayetteville Futures

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Razorbacks kicked off their fall season with the first round of qualifying in the ITF 15K Fayetteville Futures on Monday.

Sophomore Jake Sweeney got things started this morning, falling in a tough 0-6, 1-6 match to Petar Jovanovic. The Little Rock, Ark. native, Foster Rogers followed with his match having to stop due to high temperatures outside. Rogers resumed his match in the second set unable to come back from the deficit, falling 2-6, 3-6 to Petar Teodorovic.

Junior Alan Sau Franco was the last match of the night, battling with Mississippi State’s Ewen Lumsden. Sau Franco dropped the first set tiebreaker 6-7 and the second set tiebreaker 1-10.

Play continues tomorrow morning with the second round of qualifying followed by the first round of the main draw. Freshman Benedikt Emesz looks to continue off of his win in the Wichita Fall Circuit, facing Illinois’ Alexander Petrov in the first round of the main draw.
