FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 1 Arkansas women’s track and field will head into day two as the top team of the Razorback Invitational with 86.5 points. The Razorbacks dominated the pentathlon and the pole vault earning more than half of their team total between the two events.

Arkansas multis Leigha Brown, Taliyah Brooks, Alex Gochenour, Kelsey Herman and Payton Stumbaugh opened day one with phenomenal performances in the pentathlon 60-meter hurdles. Stumbaugh and Brooks finished first and second in day’s first event clocking 8.16 and 8.18 respectively.

Stumbaugh’s time in the 60-meter hurdles is the best in the SEC and third best in the NCAA this season.

All five multis continued to deliver solid marks in the pentathlon throughout the afternoon. Brown was the top finisher in the 800-meter run while Gochenour crossed the line right behind her to claim the runner-up spot. Gochenour also finished second in the shot put with a throw of 12.58m/41-3.25.

Texas native Brooks had a day for the history books setting new personal bests in three out of the five events. After earning a new PR in the 60-meter hurdles Brooks closed her day with a huge jump of 6.35m/20-10 to finish second in the long jump behind NCAA record-holder Kendell Williams of Georgia. Brooks’ final score of 4457 moved her to second on Arkansas’s all-time bests list in the pentathlon. The score places her at No. 8 on the all-time college pentathletes list.

In the pole vault Arkansas collected 26.5 points led by freshman Lexi and Tori Weeks who finished in first and second place respectively.

T. Weeks stole the show vaulting up the NCAA ranks to No. 4 with her clearance of 4.33m/14-2.5. She now has the second best mark in the SEC and is only the third vaulter in the conference with clearance over 14 feet.

Megan Zimlich, Ariel Voskamp, and Riley Robinson all added to the Razorbacks’ point total finishing fourth, sixth and T-eighth in the pole vault respectively

Juniors Samantha Mohler and Logan Bishop scored 18 points in the 5,000-meter run placing first and second respectively. Freshman Grace Taylor added five points with a fourth place finish in the event.

Taylor Ellis-Watson added six points to the team total with a third place finish in the 200-meter dash.

Arkansas closed its night with a strong showing in the distance medley relay. A team of Nikki Hiltz, Daina Harper, Therese Haiss and Jessica Kamilos combined to run 11:08.01. The Razorbacks’ time is the third best in the NCAA this season.
