No. 3 Arkansas Moves to Fifth Despite Tough Conditions at Moon Golf Invite

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The No. 3 Arkansas women’s golf team braved through tough playing conditions in the second round of the Moon Golf Invitational, moving one spot into fifth place. Arkansas shot 10-over 298, as just one team finished even and the other 16 finished over par in the round, which had to stop temporarily for 30 minutes due to weather. The Hogs were three strokes off from moving to first place after 12-15 holes but found trouble in the final three holes with five bogeys across all five players. With an 11-over 587 (298-298), Arkansas is four strokes behind fourth-place Northwestern (+7), while Auburn and LSU hold onto a tie for the lead at 3-under 573.

Reagan Zibilski was the lowest scoring Hog with a 1-over 73 on Monday. She had back-to-back bogeys in holes four and five, and then began to settle in with nine pars and two birdies in her next 11 holes. Zibilski did have another bogey on hole 17 to go back above par but managed to move 24 spots in the standings after a solid day, as she is tied for 24th with a 3-over 147 (74-73) going into Tuesday. Her par 3s average after two rounds continues to be tied for the best in the field at 2.75.

Ela Anacona tallied a 2-over 74 behind four birdies and eight pars. Her six bogeys, including three along the back nine pushed her above par on the day, but she still managed to move 21 spots on the leaderboard, heading into the final round in a tie for 36th with a 5-over 149 (75-74).

Miriam Ayora finished with a 3-over 75 in the second round. She had 11 pars, including seven straight along the front nine, and two birdies, but four bogeys put her above par, including back-to-back ones in her final two holes. Ayora is tied with Zibilski for 24th on the leaderboard with a 3-over 147 (72-75). Her seven birdies through two rounds is tied for the sixth most in the field.

Maria José Marin started the day strong but had trouble along the back nine. She logged seven pars, one birdie and just one bogey along the front nine but had two bogeys and a double bogey across her final nine holes. José Marin finished with a 4-over 76 and is now in a tie for 20th with a 2-over 146 (70-76). Her 27 pars is tied for eighth in the field.

Kendall Todd wrapped up the day with a 5-over 77. She had three birdies, including on her first hole, and eight pars, but six bogeys and a double bogey on her second hole. Todd enters the final round in a tie for 47th with a 6-over 150 (73-77).

Arkansas continues to lead the field in par 3s average, tied with Louisville at 3.0, while tied for third in par 5s with a 5.03 average. The Hogs have the second most birdies in the field with 28.
