FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 5 University of Arkansas men’s track and field team is sending 41 total qualifiers to the 2015 NCAA West Preliminary. Overall, the Razorbacks will be represented by 31 student-athletes in 17 events along with both relay teams in the preliminary rounds May 28-30 at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kansas. The top 48 declared athletes were selected into individual events per region with the top 24 relay teams per region also qualifying.

Arkansas increased its NCAA first round qualifier count by 25 from the 2015 to 2016 season. A credit to the successful recruiting efforts of head coach Chris Bucknam and his staff, 14 of the 31 student-athletes traveling to Rock Chalk Park next week are either freshman or transfers.
The NCAA East Preliminary will be held the same weekend at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida The top-12 qualifiers in each event from the two preliminary meets will advance to compete June 8-11 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Hayward in Eugene, Oregon.

Arkansas’ entries are headlined by Jarrion Lawson, Clive Pullen, Andrew Ronoh and Marqueze Washington who are all ranked as one of the top-two best performers in the region in their respective events. Jack Bruce, Kenzo Cotton, Lawson, Rubin Owens and Washington are set to compete in two events at the NCAA West Preliminary.

In addition to the accepted entries for next weekend’s preliminary rounds, the list of decathlon qualifiers that advance directly to the NCAA Championships was also released Thursday.
