No. 8 Women’s Golf in First Going into Final Round of The Bruzzy

ARDMORE, Okla. – The No. 8 Arkansas women’s golf team is in first place at The Bruzzy hosted by North Texas after 36 holes played on Saturday. Arkansas carded a 10-over 570 (285-285) in those first two rounds, holding a one-shot lead over UTSA, who finished Saturday with an 11-over 571 (290-281). All 13 schools shot over par in both rounds on the par 70, 6071-yard course at Dornick Hills Country Club. Arkansas has held a one-shot lead following both rounds.

The Hogs are led by Kendall Todd and Kajal Mistry, who are tied for fifth after two rounds. Mistry carded a 1-over 141 (69-72) in her fifth tournament of the season. In the first round, Mistry led the Hogs with a 1-under 69 to be one of four players in the 72-player field to finish under par. She logged four birdies and three bogeys with 11 pars to fire off her 11th career round in the 60s. She was in a tie for second going into the second round, in which she logged a 2-over 72 with three birdies, 10 pars and five bogeys. She has the best par 5s average (4.00) and is tied for the third most birdies (7) in the field.

Todd was solid in both rounds to finish the day with a 1-over 141 (71-70). She was in a tie for ninth after the first round, in which she registered three birdies, 11 pars and four bogeys. In the second round, she recorded her 11th round at par or under this season with two birdies, 14 pars and two bogeys to jump in a tie for fifth. Todd has a tie for the fourth most pars in the field with 25.

Reagan Zibilski is in a tie for 13th with a 4-over 144 (75-69). Zibilski started the day out strong with her first collegiate career eagle on hole one but finished that first round with six bogeys and a triple bogey. She had eight pars and two birdies to tie for 36th after the first 18 holes. Zibilski jumped 23 spots on the leaderboard after a great second round, in which she tied a career-low 69 with four birdies, 11 pars and three bogeys.

Miriam Ayora is in a tie for 21st with a 5-over 145 (71-74). In the first round, she logged a 1-over 71 behind five birdies, eight pars, four bogeys and one double bogey. She fired off four consecutive birdies in holes 14 through 17. She had a 4-over 74 in the second round with 15 pars, two bogeys and one double bogey.

Playing as an individual, Giovanna Fernandez is also in a tie for 21st with a 5-over 145 (71-74). In the first round, she recovered from a rough start with a clean front nine with one birdie and eight pars. Fernandez had a 4-over 74 in the second round with three birdies, 10 pars, three bogeys and two double bogeys. The junior holds a tie for the best par 3s average at 2.50.

Ela Anacona is in a tie for 37th with a 9-over 149 (74-75). In the first round, she had one birdie, 12 pars and five bogeys, and in the second round, she finished with one birdie and 12 pars, but also had four bogeys and a double bogey.

Arkansas leads the tournament field with the best par 4s (4.08) and par 5s (5.00) averages, as well as has the second most pars in the field with 112.
