No. 8 Women’s Golf Wins The Bruzzy for Third Victory of Season

ARDMORE, Okla. – The No. 8 Arkansas women’s golf team earned its third team victory of the season, winning The Bruzzy played at Dornick Hills Country Club by 10 strokes to close out the regular season. Arkansas led the tournament after each round, creating separation on Sunday with a 6-over 286, the second lowest score among the 13 teams in the third round. The Hogs finished the par 70 course with a 16-over 856 (285-285-286), 10 strokes ahead of Notre Dame. Kendall Todd paced the Hogs by tying a career-best second place showing.

Todd was steady all weekend, finishing the last 18 holes with an even 70. She registered five birdies and five bogeys with eight pars. The junior tied for second in the field with a 1-over 211 (71-70-70), now with 12 rounds at par or under on the season. Todd’s runner-up showing is her best finish at Arkansas, as well as her third top 10 finish of the season. Todd led the field with the best par 4s average at 3.92 and tied for the fourth most birdies with 10. She finished four strokes behind individual champion Lauren Beaudreau out of Notre Dame.

Back in the lineup, Kajal Mistry delivered a tie for fourth finish with a 2-over 212 (69-72-71). She logged a 1-over 71 on Sunday behind three birdies, 11 pars and four bogeys. Her fourth-place finish is her sixth top five showing of her career. Mistry led the tournament with the best par 5s average at 4.17 and registered 10 birdies, tied for the fourth most in the tournament field.

Giovanna Fernandez played as an individual this weekend, tying a career-low 69 in the final round to jump 13 spots on the leaderboard to finish in eighth with a 4-over 214 (71-74-69). Fernandez registered four birdies, 11 pars and three bogeys in the final round. Her eighth-place finish marked a new career best, as well as her highest finish in her Arkansas career. Fernandez led the tournament field with the best par 3s average at 2.75, the only one in the field who averaged below 3.0 and tied for the fourth most birdies with 10.

Miriam Ayora finished the final round strong with a 1-over 71 to jump seven spots on the final leaderboard. After being +3 going into her final three holes, Ayora logged two of her three birdies and one of her 11 pars in those last three. The senior logged a 6-over 216 (71-74-71) on the weekend to tie for 14th and pick up her third top 20 finish of the season.

Reagan Zibilski finished the weekend in a tie for 19th with an 8-over 218 (75-69-74). On Sunday, she registered that 74 with four birdies, eight pars, four bogeys and two double bogeys. Her 19th place finish marked her fourth top 20 placing of the season. She was one of four in the field to record an eagle on the weekend and tied for the fourth most birdies in the field with 10. Ela Anacona recorded a 17-over 227 (74-75-78) to tie for 48th in the field.

Arkansas paced the tournament field with the best par 4s (4.09) and par 5s (4.97) averages, as well as fired off the second most birdies (42).
