Oparenovic Closes Out Qualifying Play

Draws: 2017 Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships 

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — Arkansas junior Ana Oparenovic closed out qualifying play at the 2017 Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships at Pepperdine University on Wednesday with a win in consolation competition.

Oparenovic earned a 7-6(5), 6-3 victory over Syracuse’s Miranda Ramirez.

“Ana was firing on all cylinders out there today,” head coach Michael Hegarty said. “The last two days, she made some very substantive jumps with her game, and she can take a ton of positives from this tournament.”

On Thursday, the No. 9 ranked pair of sophomore Giulia Pairone and senior Léolia Jeanjean is set to play in the main doubles draw. The No. 8-seeded duo earned a first-round bye. They will face the winner between Northwestern’s Erin Larner and Lee Or and Duke’s Kaitlyn McCarthy and Ellyse Hamlin.
