Program Records Highlight Competition At LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 1 Arkansas women’s track and field team managed to post several strong performances on a stormy Saturday afternoon in Baton Rouge at the LSU Invitational.

The day was highlighted by record-breaking marks in the 400-meter dash and the shot put.

Top Performances
Taylor Ellis-Watson became the second Razorback in program history to run a sub-51 second time in the 400 placing first in the event in a new lifetime best and program record of 50.78 seconds.

Along with Ellis-Watson, Daina Harper also collected an exceptional time in the 400 clocking a new PR of 52.36 to finish fourth overall.

Former NJCAA shot put champion Micah Dennis also etched her name in program history, bettering her previous best mark by over 2 feet to break a 16-year-old record in the event with a toss of 16.09/52-9 1/2 for first place. Dennis currently checks in as the seventh-best performer in the Southeastern Conference.

Freshman Ceara Watson was the top collegiate finisher in the 800 placing second in the event in 02:07.29.

Current NCAA pole vault leader Lexi Weeks posted a final clearance of 4.55/14-11 setting a new facility record to place first over All-American vaulter Alysha Newman of Miami.
