Razorbacks Fourth as Play Suspends at Aggie Invite

BRYAN, Texas – On a 36-hole day at the Aggie Invitational, the No. 23 Arkansas men’s golf team moved up three spots during the second round to sit in fourth place before play was suspended due to darkness at the Jack Nicklaus designed Traditions Club.

Nine of the 16 teams finished play in the second round, including Arkansas with rounds of 294-293 – 587 (+11). No. 12 Oklahoma State leads the event as the only team under par at two-under, while North Texas (+4) is second and No. 18 LSU (+9) is third. The Razorbacks lead six nationally ranked teams, including No. 15 Oklahoma (+22) and tournament host and No. 27 Texas A&M (+19).

Alvaro Ortiz leads the Razorbacks for the second consecutive tournament with rounds of 70-73 – 143 (-1), good for fourth place overall. He’s one of four players under par after a stretch of 22 consecutive bogey-free holes with five birdies during the stretch.

Taylor Moore and Nicolas Echavarria are tied for 14th place overall at two-over. Moore’s rounds of 72-74 – 146 (+2) featured six birdies and his team-best fifth eagle of the year, while Echavarria’s 74-72 – 146 (+2) was highlighted by a combined one-under on the back nine.

Charles Kim’s 79-74 – 153 (+9) was good for T-49th overall, while Kolton Crawford rounded out the team with rounds of 78-78 – 156 (+12) to sit in T-61st in the field of 81 players.

The second round will conclude Sunday morning at 7 a.m., before the final round begins at 8 a.m. CT. Arkansas will tee off with Baylor and Ohio State. Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com or via the Golfstat Live app.
