Women's Tennis Earns Three Wins On Opening Day Of SMU Fall Invite

DALLAS – The Arkansas women’s tennis team opened up the SMU Fall Invite matching up against Kansas and Washington in doubles play and TCU and Wisconsin in singles play. Sophomore Katie Ferguson went 2-0 on the day, grabbing wins in both doubles and singles while the duo of senior Lenka Stara and junior Grace O’Donnell earned a hard-fought victory in doubles play.

The Razorbacks started the day with two wins in doubles play. Ferguson and sophomore Morgan McCarthy teamed up for a dominant 6-1 victory while the duo of Stara and O’Donnell followed with a 7-6 (3) win over Washington’s Matsuda/Jacobs.

Ferguson took home her second victory of the day in singles play, defeating Pascual (TCU) in straight sets 7-5, 6-4. Sophomore Anet Koskel fell in the first set against Tsai (TCU), but battled back to secure a win in the second set. Koskel eventually dropped the match in the final set, as Tsai escaped with a tight 11-9 victory in the third set.

The Hogs continue play at the SMU Fall Invite tomorrow morning starting with doubles play against SMU and Kansas followed by singles play against Washington.
