UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – No. 16 Arkansas raced to a third-place finish in the Penn State National Friday afternoon at the Blue & White Course placing two in the top-five and four in the top-25.

“It was a good race,” said senior Cameron Griffith. “It was a little cold today, but we got out hard the first mile – I think we came through at 4:46 or something like that – but it was a nice course, it was downhill the first mile. There was good competition here, which is always a good thing. This was a good race to get us ready for championship season with the SEC meet coming up,” Griffith finished.

Cameron Griffith (24:56) led the Razorbacks with a third-place finish, posting the No. 6 time in course history.

“I was pleased with our competitive effort overall,” said head coach Chris Bucknam. “This is a very tough course and it was by design, we wanted to come here, we wanted something hilly that ran longer than 8K so we can get a true measurement of where we’re at at this stage in the game with the conference meet coming up. We got great effort up front from Cameron [Griffith] and Gilbert [Boit]. I like the courage our sophomores showed, they’re not afraid to go out an run which is a sign of good things to come. Cameron looked really good, Gilbert is in his first cross country season with us, we got a lot of new guys and new faces but they’re heading into races with confidence and competing very hard which is half the battle. We’ll just continue to work hard and stay healthy,” Bucknam continued.

Arkansas’ No. 2 was Gilbert Boit who finished right behind Griffith in fourth (25:00) – tied for the ninth-fastest in course history. Rounding out the scoring for the Razorbacks were Ryan Murphy (25:29), Matt Young (25:34), and Ethan Moehn (25:50) in 23rd, 25th, and 48th-place, respectively.
