Redlicki Wins Finals

ATLANTA, Ga – University of Arkansas newcomer and red-shirt junior Mike Redlicki wins the singles finals of the top draw at the Georgia Tech Invitational Sunday morning.

“It was really exciting and nerve wracking for me to come back to competitive tennis for the first time after nearly 18 months” said Redlicki, “Coach Jackson and Coach Briceno did an incredible job keeping me calm and level headed throughout the event.”

Singles:

Four Razorbacks played in the singles draw this weekend. Redlicki and junior Jose Salazar competed in the A Gold Singles draw. Salazar won his first two rounds and competed in the semi-finals Saturday. Salazar fell to Tennessee’s Luis Valero in the semi-finals. Redlicki won the singles final draw over L. Valero 6-4, 6-1.

Sophomore David Herrerias and senior Santiago Munoz competed in the B White Singles draw. Munoz won his first round and advanced to the quarterfinals. Munoz fell to Igor Smelyanski (Tennessee) 6-3, 7-6 (4). Herrerias advanced to the semi-finals and fell to South Carolina’s Harrison O’Keefe 6-3, 6-4.

Doubles:

Munoz and Redlicki dominated in the A Gold Doubles draw this weekend. They defeated Georgia Tech’s Elijah Melendez and Daniel Yun 8-2 to advance to the finals of the A Gold Doubles draw. Munoz and Redlicki fell to Georgia Tech’s Casey Kay and Michael Kay in the finals, 8-6.

Herrerias and Salazar earned their first round and competed in the semi-finals of the B White Doubles draw. Herrerias and Salazar fell to South Carolina’s Alex Fennell and Gabriel Freidrich, 8-3.

“I am so proud of all my teammates for giving it their all every match. I know all 12 of us will be doing big things come January” Redlicki said.

The Razorback men’s tennis team will head to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the ITA All-American Championship Oct. 3-11.
