Singles Sweep Closes Out Husky Invite

SEATTLE – The Arkansas women’s tennis team went 6-0 in singles action on the final day of competition Sunday at the Husky Invite held at the Nordstrom Tennis Center on the University of Washington’s campus.

“I’m very impressed with out energy today,” head coach Michael Hegarty said. “It’s always great to finish a tournament on a high note and gain momentum for the next one. We had many strong performances here in Seattle, and we now head to regionals very well prepared.”

Junior Agne Cepelyte led the way with a three-set win over Oregon’s Nia Rose, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Against Portland, sophomore Natsuho Arakawa defeated Radina Dimitrova 6-2, 6-1, sophomore No. 100 Giulia Pairone beat Anna Oberg, 6-0, 6-2, junior No. 36 Ana Oparenovic topped Emily Soares 6-0, 6-1, freshman Tatum Rice took down Lourdes Ramalle, 6-0, 6-3, and sophomore Jackie Carr bested Laura Okazaki 6-2, 6-2.
