OLYMPIC SPOTLIGHT: Nicole Teter

A two-time All-American and SEC 800-meter Champion while at Arkansas, Nicole Teter will be a member of Team USA at the Olympic Games for the second time in her career.

A national-class 800-meter runner since winning the U.S. Junior Championship in 1991, Teter has enjoyed a competitive renaissance since returning to competition in 2000, including her first national titles in 2002. She had a great year with her runner-up finish in the 800 meters at the 2004 Olympic Trials to make her first Olympic Team.

In Athens in 2004, she clocked a prelim time of 2:01.16 to advance to the semifinals. In the second round, her time of 1:59.50 was just short of advancing to the eight-woman final.

Holding an 800-meter PR of 1:57.97 (2002), Teter finished fourth at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials in her signature event. However, because the third-place finisher did not have the Olympic "A" standard and Teter did, she was named to Team USA.

She clocked a prelim time of 2:05.01 and a semifinal time of 2:10.76 to advance to the finals.
