Explosive Quartet Commits To Legendary Squad
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Fayetteville, known to locals and track enthusiasts as the ‘Track Capital of the World,’ is home to 11 NCAA cross country titles, 20 NCAA indoor titles and 10 NCAA outdoor titles courtesy of the legendary Razorback men’s track and field team.
Built initially on distance in the early ‘70s by Hall of Fame coach John McDonnell, the Arkansas dynasty came to be with the growth of its sprints and jumps events, allowing it to reach renown as the most formidable and complete program in nation.
Current head coach Chris Bucknam, as well as assistant coaches Doug Case and Travis Geopfert, hold that regard high and have consistently recruited and developed dynamic talent, maintaining Arkansas’ stature as perennial national title contenders in every season.
The 2016-17 early signing period produced four exceptional recruits for the esteemed staff, gifted with raw speed and agility, including Laquan Nairn, Jah-Nhai Perinchief, Britt Sease and Keitavious Walter, all eager to join and contribute to Arkansas’ tradition of excellence.

Laquan Nairn, Jumps | Nassau, Bahamas / South Plains CC
Personal Bests: Long Jump (24’11.75” / 7.61m), High Jump (7’1” / 2.16m), Triple Jump (49’8.25” / 15.14m)
• 2015 Pan-American Junior Championships Long Jump Runner-Up
• Also placed seventh in the high jump
• Third at Bahamas National Championships Long Jump in 2015 and 2014
• 2014 Central America and Caribbean Junior Championships Long Jump Champion
• 2014 World Junior Championship Qualifier in the Long Jump
• 2013 Bahamas Junior Champion in the High Jump and Long Jump
• Fifth at 2013 IAAF World Youth Championships High Jump, also competed in the long jump
• 2014 Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations (BAAA) National Junior Male Athlete of the Year

• Helped lead his team to 2016 Junior College Indoor National Championship
• Set Bermuda’s 35-year old national junior record when he jumped 7’5” (2.26m) at Wichita State KT Woodman Classic in 2016
• Seventh in high jump at IAAF World U20 Championships in 2016
• Eighth at World Youth Olympic Games High Jump in 2014 – Bermuda’s flag bearer during closing ceremonies

• Helped team to a third-place team finish at Outdoor National Junior College Championship
• 2015 Louisiana 5A State Champion in the 100 meters outdoors and 60 meters indoors
