Kebenei Signs Contract to Compete for Nike
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas senior Stanley Kebenei has signed a contract with Nike and will represent the brand at the professional level.
One of few Razorbacks to compete through all three seasons, Kebenei earned All-American honors in cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field.
The Nakuru, Kenya native finished in the top-three at four out of six meets during cross country season. Honored as the SEC Runner of the Week twice for his performances throughout the fall, Kebenei was named SEC Runner of the Year following his first place finish at the 2014 SEC Cross Country Championships. He capped his cross country career as the NCAA South Central Athlete of the Year and with a sixth-place finish at the 2014 NCAA Cross Country Championships.
Kebenei saw continued success during the indoor track and field season named second team All-SEC at 3,000 meters. Representing the Razorbacks in two events at the 2015 NCAA Indoor Championships, Kebenei anchored the distance medley relay team to an eighth-place finish and was the 10th runner to cross the line in the 3,000-meter run.
In his third meet of the outdoor season Kebenei ran an NCAA-leading time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Payton Jordan Invitational. At the 2015 SEC Outdoor Championships he added 18 points to the team total finishing first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and second at 5,000 meters behind teammate Kemoy Campbell to help Arkansas to a second place finish.
Kebenei completed his impressive career as a Razorback at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships where he finished as the runner-up in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Most recently at the 2015 USATF Championships Kebenei finished fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as the top collegian in the field.
