Fassi Sixth At World University Games

TAIPEI, Taiwan – University of Arkansas junior golfer Maria Fassi is in striking distance after two rounds of action at the World University Games in Taipei, Taiwan, Friday.
Fassi, playing for her home country of Mexico, fired rounds of 73–71—144 and is even on the par-72 course at Sunrise Golf and Country Club. The Razorback All-American is sixth overall, five shots back of the leader.
Fassi opened round two with three pars before picking up a bogey on No. 4. She added her second bogey on No. 8 but rallied with a birdie on the par-4 ninth hole. She added birdies on Nos. 14 and 18 finishing 1-under for the round.
Mexico is tied for fourth place overall, four shots behind leader and host Chinese Taipei. The Republic of Korea, Thailand, Mexico and the United States round out the top five teams.
Former Razorback Stacy Lewis took part in the World University Games in 2006. Lewis was the individual medalist and paced Team USA to the title that year.
