No. 10 Women’s Golf Advances to Fourth Round of NCAA Championship

CARLSBAD, Calif. – The No. 10 Arkansas women’s golf team toughed out a challenging third round at the 2024 NCAA Championship with an 11-over 299. Arkansas has finished three rounds of stroke play with a 13-over 877 (288-290-299), standing in ninth place to be one of 15 teams to advance to the fourth round of stroke play tomorrow, Monday, May 20. This marks the first time since 2019 at an NCAA Championship the Hogs have advanced to the fourth round of stroke play.

Following the fourth round of stroke play, the top eight teams will advance to match play and an individual champion will be crowned. Freshman Maria José Marin is in the race, standing in third with a 5-under 211 (72-68-71). She is one shot back of second and seven behind the leader in Texas A&M’s Adela Cernousek, who has a 12-under 204. José Marin earned her third straight round at par or better, 22nd this season, with three birdies, 13 pars and two bogeys. Her birdie on 18 was done following an incredible approach shot to set up for a 2-foot birdie. José Marin’s 4.58 par 5s average is tied for the best, while her 13 birdies is the fourth most in the field.

Kendall Todd bounced back after a less than ideal start to finish the day with a 1-over 73. Todd had a few tough breaks on the day but stayed tough. She double bogeyed the second hole but put that behind her with a birdie on four. After back-to-back bogeys on holes five and six, she came out of it with a birdie on seven. The junior then delivered seven straight pars, birdies on 15 and 17 and a par on 16 before bogeying 18. Todd is in a good position at a tie for 13th with a 1-under 215 (72-70-73). Her 3.80 par 4s average is the second best in the tournament field.

Kajal Mistry showcased her veteran ability to bounce back after a challenging start to the day. Mistry was 7-over par through her first 12 holes but gutted out birdies on 13 and 17 and five pars to put the Hogs in a better position to make the first cut of the tournament. She finished with a 5-over 77 and sits in a tie for 86th with an 11-over 227 (73-77-77).

Reagan Zibilski shot a 6-over 78 on Sunday behind 13 pars, four bogeys and a double bogey on 16. She is in a tie for 135th with a 20-over 236 (78-80-78). Miriam Ayora shot a 12-over 84. She was 3-over par on the front and 9-over par on the back with eight pars, eight bogeys and two double bogeys. Ayora is in a tie for 106th with a 14-over 230 (71-75-84).
