After multiple days of work in the heat, Arkansas took its talents to Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium this evening for its first practice under lights in the best weather conditions seen so far during camp.
And the Razorbacks could not have been more focused and ready to work.
Head coach Bret Bielema’s squad went through 23 periods of work with the final few periods reserved for developmental players.
Three Takeaways
1. Team focus
It was a big day mentally for the Razorbacks. This morning, the team went through a walkthrough that focused on installation, implementation and many other areas. During practice, special teams and work inside the red zone were strong areas of emphasis.
2. Offense impresses
Senior quarterback Brandon Allen and the offense got off to a hot start for the second day in a row. Allen was extremely efficient in his first several series, targeting multiple receivers that came up with some impressive grabs. Freshman wide receiver Deon Stewart showed his speed and ability with multiple catches that resulted in first downs while Jared Cornelius and Damon Mitchell continued to impress.
3. Have yourself a day, tight ends
And they did just that. Freshman CJ O’Grady showed that he’s not afraid to step up and make big-time catches in coverage. To no surprise, junior Hunter Henry showcased his ability to make plays all over the field, coming away with several receptions that resulted in explosive plays for the offense. Jeremy Sprinkle and Austin Cantrell reeled in multiple targets of their own as well. Alex Voelzke continues to be a vocal leader while bringing tons of energy and physical play.
The Razorbacks return to the practice field Thursday at 2:25 p.m.
