No. 34 Razorbacks Set to Host No. 25 Florida, No. 12 Mississippi State to End Regular Season

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 34 Arkansas men’s tennis team returns home to Billingsley Tennis Center this weekend for its final two regular season matches. The Razorbacks (18-9, 4-6) host No. 25 Florida (11-9, 5-5) on Friday, April 12, at 5:30 p.m. for Senior Night and No. 12 Mississippi State (16-6, 8-3) on Sunday, April 14, at 1 p.m.

The Hogs swept their weekend on the road with wins against No. 37 LSU, No. 8 Texas A&M, and No. 51 Rice. Arkansas dropped the doubles point before responding to take four singles matches en route to its first victory of the road trip over the Tigers. Stefanos Savva earned his 15th dual win this year after clinching the win against LSU.

In the upset victory over the Aggies, reigning SEC Player of the Week Gerard Planelles Ripoll collected his first ranked win this spring as Karlo Kajin secured the match at the No. 6 position after another three-set victory. The Hogs obtained their third win of the weekend over the Owls as Benedikt Emesz, Kajin, Planelles Ripoll, and Savva all grabbed singles victories in the win.

No. 25 Florida is 11-9 overall and 5-5 in SEC contests this season after a victory against No. 48 Vanderbilt last Friday. The Gators are headlined by freshmen No. 52 Jeremy Jin in the top spot and No. 125 Aidan Kim on court two, respectively. Florida’s singles lineup also features freshman No. 106 Adhithya Ganesan and junior Nate Bonetto, who leads the team with 10 singles wins this spring. The duos of No. 31 Bonetto/Kim and No. 70 Ganesan/Tanapatt Nirundorn each have a team-leading eight doubles victories when playing together this season.

The No. 12 Bulldogs are coming off a 1-1 weekend, falling to No. 7 Tennessee before defeating No. 32 Auburn to improve to 16-6 overall and 8-3 in SEC play this year. Mississippi State is led by sophomore No. 42 Petar Jovanovic and senior No. 107 Nemanja Malesevic, who have played at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions this spring. Senior Carles Hernandez and sophomore Benito Sanchez Martinez have each won 15 dual singles matches this season. In doubles, the tandem of Jovanovic and Sanchez Martinez are ranked No. 22 in the ITA doubles rankings and hold a 11-5 record this year.
