Seniors lead way to win over Little Rock

Fayetteville, Ark. – Arkansas Swimming and Diving won 13 events as a team on Saturday afternoon to score a victory over Little Rock in the Razorback’s first meet of 2023. Razorback divers Regan Caufield, Gaby Bortnick, and Malea Martinez all scored personal-bests in one-meter and three-meter dive events, while grad students Kobie Melton, Alessia Feraguti, and Andrea Sansores all won multiple swimming events.

“It was great to start the new year by competing against Little Rock. Our team was excited about finally competing against outside competition, and I thought we executed better technique and race plans today,” stated head coach Neil Harper. “Our seniors led the way with wins in the Medley Relay, 1000 Free, 200 IM, 100 Back, 3m Diving, 100 Fly, and 100 Breast, however, our freshmen also stepped up with wins for us in the 200 Free, 1m Diving, and 500 Free. We will continue to train hard and focus on SEC and NCAA as we test ourselves next week vs Kansas and Vanderbilt the week after.

“I was really happy with the divers. They all drove extremely well, and we had several personal-bests performances,” said dive coach Abel Sanchez.
