#9 Arkansas Hosts 16th Annual CABO COLLEGIATE

FAYETTEVILLE – For the 16th consecutive year, the #9 Arkansas men’s golf team will host some of the best programs in the country at one of the most anticipated college events each year – the CABO COLLEGIATE – played Mar. 1-3 at the Twin Dolphin Club in Los Cabos, Mexico.

The tournament features three days of golf (Sunday, Monday and Tuesday) with 18 holes each day.

In addition to the team title, for the third year in a row – and fourth time overall – the individual champion will earn an exemption to play on the PGA TOUR. This year’s winner, like the winners from the past two years, earns an exemption to play in the World Wide Technology Championship at Diamante Cabo San Lucas in November.

The 15-team field features seven programs that have won 13 of the previous 15 events held, including Arkansas (2010, 2011), Ole Miss (2012), Houston (2013), Florida State (2015), Oklahoma State (2017, 1018, 2019), Arizona State (2020, 2024, 2025) and Vanderbilt (2022, 2023).

Three top 10 teams – #5 Vanderbilt, #7 Arizona State and #9 Arkansas – highlight the field. Other top 50 programs include #11 Oklahoma State, #13 Ole Miss, #17 Georgia Tech, #18 Tennessee, #20 Stanford, #27 Arizona State and #36 Florida State. Cal, Houston, Loyola (Md.), Rice and UC Santa Barbara round out the field.

For the third year in a row, the host Razorbacks come to CABO after winning its spring season opener and the Razorbacks have three top-5 finishes over the last four years..

Razorback sophomore Erich Fortlage will lead the Arkansas contingent. He leads the team in scoring average (70.67), top-20 finishes (4) and rounds at par or better (12).

Junior Thomas Curry, who tied for seventh in the spring opener playing as an individual, enters the lineup in the #2 position. He has a season stroke average of 71.67 and three top-20 finishes in three events played this year. Last year, Curry tied for fifth at CABO, shooting a 5-under 208, and was later named SEC Golfer of the Week. In two years at CABO, Curry has turned in four rounds under par, including a final-round 66 last season.

John Daly II is the Hog’s top-rated player, coming in a #35 in the NCAA ranking and #55 in the WAGR. He has a 70.73 scoring average this season and leads the team with six rounds in the 60s this season. Cam Smith, who has a 71.40 season stroke average, earned his way in the lineup as his score has counted to the team total in 14 of the 15 rounds this season. He also has a pair of top-10 finishes.

Gerardo Gómez will hold down the fifth spot. He is coming off a 14th-place finish and his experience at the course, combined with a T-14th finish last year, gave him the edge to make the lineup. Niilo Mäki-Petäjä will play as an individual. The junior has a 71.67 season scoring champion.
