For the second time in his career, Arkansas men’s golf coach Brad McMakin has been the NCAA Division I Golf Pride Grips Central Region Coach of the Year, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced today. McMakin was additionally 1 of 5 finalists for the NCAA Division I Dave Williams National Coach of the Year Award.

The sixth-ranked Arkansas men’s golf team flirted with advancing to the fourth and final round before ultimately finishing 19th (874 / +10) after an even-par round Sunday at the NCAA Championships, played at the par-72 Omni La Costa Resort – North Course. However, sophomore Gerardo Gomez tied for 22nd and will compete in a two-man playoff Monday in hopes of advancing to the fourth and final round.

Razorback sophomores Erich Fortlage and Gerardo Gomez have been tabbed to the NCAA Division I PING All-Central Region team, as named by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

Sixth-ranked Arkansas will play in its 27th NCAA Championships at the Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, Calif., with stroke play set for May 29-June 1 and match play to follow June 2-3.

#6 Arkansas finished third (841 / -11) at the NCAA Corvallis regional and advanced to its 27th NCAA Championship, thanks to a final-round, 3-under-par 281 at the par-71 Trysting Tree Golf Club.

Top-seeded and sixth-ranked Arkansas played the last six holes at 7-under par to move from as low as eighth at one point into a tie for second after 18 holes at the 2026 NCAA Corvallis Regional, played at the par-71 Trysting Tree Golf Club. The Razorbacks are tied for second (275 / -9) with SEC foe and 17th-ranked Oklahoma, each carding an opening-day, 9-under-par 275.
