Academic All-America honor for Sydney Vaught

FAYETTEVILLE – Razorback senior Sydney Vaught received a third team Academic All-America accolade among women’s track and field/cross country as selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).

This marks the first honor for Vaught, who completed her final year with the Razorbacks during the 2025 cross country and 2026 indoor track and field seasons.

Overall, the Arkansas women’s program has collected 49 CSC Academic All-America honors by 36 student-athletes. This is the 18th consecutive year for the Razorback women to have a CSC Academic All-America selected.

Joining Vaught in receiving Academic All-District recognition in 2026 were Ainsley Erzen, Heidi Hudson, Rae-Anne Serville, Amirah Sharpe, and Arianna Sharpe.

In cross country, Vaught earned a second All-America honor at the NCAA Championships in placing 13th with a time of 18:59.6 over the 6k course in Columbia, Missouri. She finished runner-up in the NCAA South Central Region meet hosted by Arkansas at Agri Park.

Indoors, Vaught collected a first team All-America honor at the NCAA Indoor Championships by placing eighth in the 5,000m in front of Arkansas fans with the meet being held at the Randal Tyson Track Complex.

During the SEC Indoor Championships, Vaught totaled 16 team points in winning the 5,000m in a meet record of 15:02.52 while placing third in the 3,000m with an 8:51.97 performance. Her 5,000m time ranks No. 9 on the all-time collegiate list.

The 16 points scored by Vaught at the SEC Indoor Championships tied her with two others for the Cliff Harper trophy as high point scorers in the meet.

Vaught broke the UA record of 15:11.27 in the 5,000m that was set in 2025 by Paityn Noe. Her 3,000m time of 8:49.02 ranks second on the UA all-time list behind an 8:47.17 by Noe in 2025. A career best of 4:33.35 in the mile ranks Vaught at No. 5 on the UA all-time list.

In the distance medley relay, Vaught anchored the Razorbacks to a school record of 10:44.09 with a split of 4:28.26 over 1,600m. It bettered the previous UA record of 10:49.14 set in 2023.

Professional racing during the 2026 outdoor season has generated career best marks at various distances for Vaught.

A pair of 5km road races had Vaught clocking 15:38 in Carlsbad, California, and 15:24 for ninth place at the USATF 5km Championships in Indianapolis. She set a PR of 4:12.32 in the 1,500m at the Arkansas Twilight. Then an outdoor career best of 15:04.35 in the 5,000m was attained at the Los Angeles Track Festival.

Road races over a 10km distance had Vaught posting a 32:15 best in New York City, followed by being the top American finisher at the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta in placing ninth overall at 32:18.
