Arkansas Drops Battle Line Rivalry to No. 25 Mizzou

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas volleyball team took on a ranked Missouri team on Friday evening in Barnhill, dropping the Battle Line Rivalry to the Tigers in three sets (25-15, 25-19, 25-23). The Hogs fall to 7-13 overall and 1-8 in SEC play.

THE TURNING POINT

Trailing in the match 2-0, Arkansas fought its best fight in the final set, and erased a five-point deficit with a 6-2 scoring drive to come within 24-23 of Missouri late in the set. Tiger Leketor Member-Meneh secured the victory for Missouri with the assist from Andrea Fuentes, taking the final set 25-23.

The Tigers sparked an 11-2 rally to end the first set (25-15), but the Razorbacks made adjustments and with a service ace from Devyn Wheeler and kill from Gillen, the Hogs tied the score in the second at 18 points apiece. Missouri managed to slow Arkansas’ momentum and rattled off five unanswered points for the 25-19 set two win.

UP NEXT

The Hogs stay in Fayetteville to face Auburn on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 27). Fans are encouraged to join the Razorbacks in Barnhill for Jr. Razorback Welcome Back on Sunday. The Razorbacks will hit the road next week for a Wednesday-Sunday series with league leading Georgia and Kentucky.
