
Arkansas Falls to Tulsa, 4-1
TULSA, Okla. – The Arkansas women’s tennis team (3-5) dropped its match to Tulsa (10-3), losing 4-1 on Monday afternoon at Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Tulsa took the lead after grabbing the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. The Golden Hurricane struck first as Naranjo/Velasquez claimed a 6-1 victory over No. 78 Anet Koskel/Grace O’Donnell. Tulsa secured the point through a 6-1 win for Basson/Wilmot against Jimena Gomez/Katarina Pavlechova. The match on court one went unfinished, with the Olga Bienzobas/Carolina Gomez leading Berlanga/Hutchings, 5-3.
The Golden Hurricane carried their momentum into singles play, winning the first set on four courts. On court one, Berlanga defeated No. 93 C. Gomez 6-3, 6-1, while Velasquez took down Koskel, 6-2, 6-3, on court three. The Razorbacks responded with Pavlechova taking down Singh, 6-2, 6-2. Tulsa clinched the match on court four, with O’Donnell falling to Wilmot, 6-4, 6-6 (1) to end the match.
The Hogs travel to College Station, Texas to take on Texas A&M in the team’s second conference match of the season, on Friday, Feb. 28.
