Arkansas Tennis Releases Spring Schedule

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas men’s tennis team set its spring schedule, Head Coach Andy Jackson announced today. The Hogs are pitted against 17 NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago and will compete in 12 top-25 matchups. The Razorbacks will start their season on home court with a doubleheader against Nebraska-Omaha (Jan. 12).

Arkansas continues a competitive non-conference schedule with a matchup against year-end No. 22 Oklahoma State in Fayetteville (Jan. 17). The Hogs will also compete in the ITA kickoff event in Starkville, Mississippi, which is the round of 64 of the ITA Indoor Championships, at the end of January, taking on Mississippi State on day one and either Alabama or Kentucky on day two.

The Hogs face three other squads from the Sooner state during the non-conference slate, a road duel versus Oklahoma (Feb. 6), a road matchup versus Tulsa (Feb. 16), and a home clash versus Oral Roberts as part of a doubleheader, with UCF being the first match (Feb. 27).

Oklahoma, Tulsa and Oral Roberts were all part of Arkansas’ regional championships this fall, where Arkansas sent two doubles squads to the final (Melvin Manuel/Adrien Burdet and Oscar Pinto Sansano/Riccardo Trione) and one singles player to the final (Aleksa Bucan).

UCF will be a formidable non-conference foe, finishing last season ranked No. 11 in the nation.

The beginning of March will mark SEC play for the Razorbacks, starting league play against the eighth-ranked team at the end of last season, Texas A&M, in College Station (March 4).

Arkansas is then set to move through the toughest conference in college tennis. The gauntlet that is the SEC prompts Arkansas to take on end-of-year ranked opponents including No. 1 Florida (March 25 in Fayetteville), No. 4 Tennessee (April 1 @Tennessee), No. 9 Georgia (March 18 @Georgia), No. 13 South Carolina (March 27 in Fayetteville), No. 14 Ole Miss (April 15 @Ole Miss), No. 15 Mississippi State (April 8 in Fayetteville), and No. 18 Kentucky (March 13 in Fayetteville).

“We put a lot into this fall to prepare and improve for the season,” Jackson said. “We are very eager and excited to be playing a great schedule.”

The SEC Tournament will take place in Athens, Georgia, from April 20-24.
