Arkansas to Begin SEC Play in College Station on Friday

The Razorback Men’s Tennis squad (9-4) kicks off league play when the Hogs travel to College Station, Texas, to take on the Texas A&M Aggies (6-5). Arkansas is 3-3 in SEC openers since 2016.

Last time out, the Hogs split a doubleheader with UCF and Oral Roberts on Sunday. Arkansas rallied from a 4-1 loss to UCF to sweep ORU 7-0 in the nightcap and improve 9-4 this spring.

Texas A&M enters Friday having lost five straight matches but will host the Incarnate Word at noon as part of a doubleheader prior to taking on the Razorbacks at 6 p.m.

Melvin Manuel is looking to stay hot for the Hogs, as the French sophomore is on a five-match winning streak in singles, and has not dropped a set during that span. Manuel and doubles partner Adrien Burdet are ranked as the No. 47 duo in the country, as well.

Aggie sophomore Raphael Perot is ranked No. 50 in singles, while Arkansas boasts three ranked singles players: Aleksa Bucan (No. 37), Alex Reco (No. 38) and Oscar Pinto (No. 119).

The Razorbacks are in search of their third win over A&M since the Aggies joined the SEC in 2013 with Friday serving as the latest opportunity to score the program’s first SEC win in College Station. Arkansas came out on top the last time the two programs met last spring with the Hogs taking a 4-3 victory in Fayetteville over No. 12 Texas A&M.
