Arkansas Volleyball to Host Tennessee Saturday and Sunday

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas volleyball team is back in Barnhill Arena this weekend and will host the Tennessee Volunteers for a pair of exciting matches on Saturday and Sunday.

Arkansas returns to action after back-to-back losses at No. 8 Florida in Gainesville last week, dropping both matches in three sets. The Razorbacks had their best set over the course of the two-game series in the second set on Saturday, Arkansas recorded 15 kills to Florida’s 14 and registered a .220 hitting percentage.

Arkansas is currently averaging 14.88 digs per set, the most in the Watson era and the most since 2012 when the Razorbacks averaged 14.97 digs per set. The Razorbacks’ 1.61 service aces per set are the most since 2003, when Arkansas averaged 1.67 service aces/set. The 1.61 service aces per set are the fourth-most in school history.

Tennessee leads the all-time series 22-20 and has won three-straight, but the Razorbacks have split the last 10 matchups with the Lady Vols, 5-5. Arkansas is looking to stay dominant at home, currently holding a 6-2 record in Barnhill this season and leading Tennessee 11-9 when playing in Fayetteville. The last time the two teams met, the Hogs dropped a thriller in five sets as Tennessee rallied from a two-sets-to-one deficit.

Tennessee visits Fayetteville after sweeping Mississippi State and before that, fell to the ranked Gators in both matches against Florida. This will be the first time this spring that Tennessee will be playing in an arena other than their own.

Tennessee is one of the top defensive teams in the SEC, leading the league in digs with 15.78 digs per set. Volunteer libero, Madison Bryant was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week, averaging 4.71 digs per set at MSU. She tallied a total of 33 digs against the Bulldogs.

Both matches will be available to live stream on SEC Network+ and will begin at 2 p.m.
