Arkansas Women’s Basketball: Class of 2023

#SigningStories, as told by Arkansas women’s basketball head coach Mike Neighbors

Here is to the crazy ones: Class of 2023.

My eighth grade educated Papa Neighbors always told us grandkids “if you want to be No. 1, you have to be odd.” When you’re 9 years old, being odd is hard, but because he was full of wisdom more so than knowledge, he also knew being odd would be hard at 19, 29, 39, 49, 59 and so on.

“Odd” was obviously a play-on word, so we were learning the difference between even and odd numbers in our math classes. Luckily our English teacher was also teaching us about synonyms, and we learned there were words we could use other than “odd” that have a similar meaning. Some of those words were cool, extraordinary, original, remarkable and exceptional. But the word that has stuck with me to this day is distinctive.

This 2023 class will always be remembered for what makes each signee distinctive.

Release will be updated and continued as student-athletes sign their National Letter of Intent.
