FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas women’s tennis team improved to 7-0 with a 4-0 win over No. 25 Mississippi State on Monday (Feb. 22). It marks the second time under third-year head coach Courtney Steinbock that the Hogs have started the season with seven-consecutive wins.

Arkansas took a 1-0 match lead after clinching the doubles point against Mississippi State. Freshman duo Morgan Cross and Indianna Spink defeated Bulldogs Emma Antonaki and Alexanda Mikhailuk 6-4 on court two. On court three, Laura Rijkers and Kelly Keller secured a 6-4 victory over Lillian Poling and Chloe Cirotte to clinch the doubles win.

No. 28 Lauren Alter and Tatum Rice had a two-set lead on their opponents when the doubles point was clinched, leaving their match unfinished. Alter and Rice had built a 5-3 advantage over Bulldogs Tamara Racine and Magda Adaloglou on court one.

Cross and Keller were the first to win in singles play, impressively beating their opponents in straight sets. Cross beat MSU’s Mikhailuk 6-2, 6-2 and Kelly defeated Tamara Racine 6-4, 6-0.

Now leading 3-0, the Razorbacks needed just one additional singles win to clinch the match. The Hogs and Bulldogs were battling on the four other courts, with Arkansas leading on three of the four.
