Arkansas Women’s Tennis Takes Down South Carolina in the SEC Tournament
The No. 14 seed Razorbacks improve to 14-13 on the season after knocking off No. 11 seed South Carolina 12-12 in the opening round of the SEC Tournament.
During doubles, Jimena Gomez Alonso and Alexandra Panagiotidou defeated Sara Borkop and Jan Dunyon, 6-2. No. 20 Carolina Gomez Alonso and Anet Koskel fell to No. 13 Lauren Friedman and Helena Buchwald, 6-4. Brooke Schafer and Arina Babenko fell to Kaitlyn Carnicella and Jana Stojanova, 6-3.
The Hogs came out hot in singles; No. 32 Carolina Gomez Alonso took down No. 33 Kaitlyn Carnicella, 7-5, 6-4. Alexandra Panagiotidou defeated Taylor Goetz, 6-0, 6-4. Jimena Gomez Alonso took down Jane Dunyon, 6-3, 1-6, 6-1. Anet Koskel defeated Sara Borkop, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. Brooke Schafer fell to No. 37 Helena Buchwald, 6-4, 6-4. Arina Babenko fell to Jana Stojanova, 7-6 (8-6), 6-3.
The Razorbacks will face Florida in the second round of the SEC Tournament on Thursday, April 16th at 9:00 a.m. in Norman, Okla.
