Hog Wild In Greenville

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The University of Arkansas women’s basketball team pulled off the second upset in as many days knocking out No. 12 South Carolina, 95-89, in the quarterfinals of the Southeastern Conference Tournament in Greenville, South Carolina, on Friday.

Chelsea Dungee scored 31 points for the second consecutive day after dropping 31 on No. 7 seed Georgia on Thursday leading four Razorbacks (19-13) in double figures. Twelfth-ranked South Carolina (21-9) had won four consecutive conference tournaments and had its 12-game win streak in the SEC Tournament snapped.

The Razorbacks, who made 11 3-pointers and shot 50 percent from long range in the game, got 18 points from Alexis Tolefree, 16 points from Malica Monk and 14 points from Jailyn Mason in the win. Kiara Williams added 10 rebounds for Arkansas.

Arkansas jumped out of the gates fast for the second consecutive day and led most of the game but Carolina hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to go up by one heading into the fourth quarter.

The pro-South Carolina crowd got fired up but was quickly quieted when Dungee hit a 3-pointer just seconds into the fourth quarter and the Razorbacks never trailed again.

Arkansas advances to Saturday’s semifinals against Texas A&M, which will be broadcast on ESPNU and available to stream live on the ESPN app.
