Doubles Duo Run Ends at ITA All-Americans
TULSA, Okla. – The Arkansas men’s team completed its run in the qualifying draw at the ITA All-American Championships with both singles and doubles falling in competition on Tuesday.
In singles play, junior Melvin Manuel had to retire in his match with Duke’s Andrew Zhang. Manuel won his first two matches of the round, failing to win one more in order to advance into the main draw of singles play. Manuel continued on the day with doubles partner Adrien Burdet in the round of 16.
In doubles, Manuel and Burdet were blanked 6-0 in the first set but came back to take the second 6-3. In a third-set tiebreaker, the duo from Liberty came out on top over the Razorbacks 10-3.
The Razorbacks will be back in action next week as they host the ITA Central Regional from Thursday, October 13 to Sunday, October 17 at the Billingsley Tennis Center.
